This year, Berlin is expecting 5,5 millions of tourists – a new record. While more and more new hotels open their business, exclusive herbergues are looking for guests. But there is a new trend: Tourists are interested in renting an apartment in the centre of the city.
Ten years ago, Hans Dentler started to rent an apartment. Today he rents 350 apartments. Which location is especially popular? "My impression is, that the tourist want to see the eastern part of the city, but they prefer to live in the western part", Dendler says.
The agency "Platin Berlin" does the contrary by renting luxury suite at the "Kollwitz"-square in the "Prenzlauer Berg". "Punks and the luxury restaurants of the szene of Berlin are included", the owner Robert Gummich says. The concept of "Luna y Sol" 250 square metre apartment gives you the opportunity to choose out of 5 different size-versions. The apartement is suiteable for 10 persons. The offer includes a limousine service as well."
Enrico Molitor, CEO of the travel agency "Kulturplanung", is talking about a busy demand. He is renting about 380 apartments, mostly to families and small groups through the internet.
