Luna y Sol is located in the eastern part of Berlin "Prenzlauer Berg" directly at the "Kollwitz"-square.

"luna y sol" history

Most of the houses in the centre of Berlin were built at the turn of the last century. The building in the "Kollwitz"-street number 60, where the "luna y sol" suite is located was built during the times of foundation as a centre of a middle-class living area. The front building was the so called masters house. In the rear building the servants used to live as well as the workers with their families.

From 1891 till 1943 the famous painter and sculptor Käthe Kollwitz lived in the street named following her.

Prenzlauer Berg was luckyly almost not destroyed by the second world war. Therefore most of the old buildings are still preserved, which you can see by the staircases which are built from marble as well as the (tracks of) framework. In one of the beam they say that they have discovered letters. "Ernst and Hanna"which were written there and that they have lived there till 1945. In the "luna y sol Superior Suite" you find a lot of this old and beautiful frameworks as well.

In the year 2000 the owner of the suite discovered a sign at the house in the "Kollwitz"-street by accident. His car broke down arriving at number 60. The sign was telling that the attic was free for sale. While he was waiting for the breakdown service he had a walk trough the parc at the "Kollwitz" place, watching up to the attic. He was dreaming...

The dream became true. The attic turned into a roof apartment, the fifth floor and the "luna y sol Superior Suite". "Luna y sol" is Spanish and means "moon and sun". You will notice this in the concept of design and light of the suite.

The aim of the construction of the suite was:

The owner chose the material carefully in respect to its quality. Thus, natural stonefloor was brought from Italy and the parquet flor of the suite is from Brasil. The design of the rooms is mainly in a mediteranean and colonial style. The furniture was brought from Bali, Italy, the south of France as well as from north and south Africa by the owner himselve.

Experience and enjoy the living in the unique surroundings of the top roof apartment in the fascinating capital of Germany.
